The drama, passion, love and art of Maria Callas is captured by Dr. Maria Boundas Bakalis in her performance of "La Maria", an original play based on the words and writings of Maria Callas and interwoven with excerpts from Callas recordings. The compelling and complex Callas is brought vividly to life through Ms. Bakalis' sensitive portrayal. Callas and Bakalis promise to captivate and capture both the hearts and minds of the audience.
Maria Bakalis professional experiences include Director of Dramatics / L' Ecole Performing Arts Academy and Director of Modern Greek Theatre, Chicago. Dr. Boundas Bakalis' training includes BA Communications / Theatre, DePaul University; MA Communications / Theatre, Northern Illinois University; ED.D. - Doctorate in Education, Northern Illinois University; Certificate in Acting. Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London).
Maria Bakalis both directs and acts in professional theatre throughout the Chicagoland area and also teaches Communications and Theatre at Wauonsee College.
